mclean, va - moroccan getaway
project background
This project began as a standard bathroom renovation but quickly evolved into a highly customized, design-driven transformation. During demolition, we discovered an unused cavity behind the bathroom wall created by the staircase leading to the second floor.
Rather than closing off the space, we took advantage of the opportunity to build a fully integrated storage system within the wall.
At the same time, the homeowner wanted the bathroom to reflect the look and feel of a Moroccan mosque, with bold geometric patterns and a vibrant, immersive design. This required careful planning to balance aesthetics with functionality, especially given the constraints of a large window that impacted the shower layout. We isolated inspiration photos that our client took and saw at the Saadian Tombs to create a one of a kind bathroom.
The project involved a full rebuild of the bathroom, including reworking mechanical systems, adding ventilation, upgrading electrical, and installing detailed tilework throughout.
The final result is a highly personalized space that combines artistic design, hidden functionality, and precise craftsmanship.
